Beth Butler "Be a Student of the Business"
Actualizado: 17 de jul de 2020
I know that I have many friends on this podcast, but Beth is not only one of my oldest friends but also my business partner in an online venture we have called, "Feather The Nest" which is targeted at millennials and helping them raise a down payment for their dream of homeownership by using crowdfunding methods. We've known each other for over 15 years and she has always proven to be a knowledgeable leader with a great deal of caring and a desire to mentor others. She mentions in the podcast that if she were not doing real estate, she would most probably be a university professor.
A true Miami native, she explains that she got into real estate on a whim. She was doing data processing for small businesses and then got her real estate license but was working mostly commercial deals. She did her first residential deal as a favor to a friend and found the perfect home for her clients and at the closing table with the seller, he was arrested after the transaction was completed for insider trading, and Beth was hooked on the adrenaline of the business.
She has worked and led with some of the top brands and teams in South Florida and has been very cognizant of building a culture that breeds success. Beth urges people to be a student of the business. Learn from those that came before but at the same time learn resiliency. It will not always go your way and you need to be flexible to survive and thrive.
For those entering the business today, her singular piece of advice is to get a coach. Have someone guide you through the pitfalls and set you up for success by having been through it before and learned best practices.
There are few people I know that could have gotten a brand like Compass into Florida with no real resources and help grow that into the behemoth it is now.
